The Coldest Day of the Year

Our last match of the 2003–04 season was against Little Sai Wan at Po Kong Village Road in February. It was a freezing cold day with the rain being blown horizontally — the coldest day of the year as it turned out. The conditions were appalling. On any other occasion the match would have been called off, but it had to be played as both teams needed a win to have a chance of winning the title. The match didn’t go Lamma CC’s way and there wasn’t much hanging around after the game either, as we headed off to a warm bar to thaw out and console ourselves over the loss.
