Review of the Season
- Saturday League — Ninth in a lack-lustre season. Needs more intensity and a bigger squad.
- Saturday Cup — First round exit in the Plate to a social team.
- Shanghai Sixes — Cup Finalists.
- HK International Cricket Festival — Two teams but neither made an impact.
- HKU Sixes — Cup Finalists.
- Phuket International Sixes — Bowl semi-finalists.
- Women’s Cricket League — LWCC won the inaugural Women’s Cricket League.
- Summer Eights — Plate semi-finalists.
- Shanghai tourists — Good weekend beating SCC with a combined LCC/Police team on Saturday and a thrilling win of the Breezer Cup by 1 run on the Sunday.
Financial Position
Last ECM, LCC accounts where in a poor state. It has been an enormous effort in chasing Member’s money owed to the Club, though Member’s have been very co-operative — thank you. Kim has kept a close eye on the accounts this season as Venkat has had his hands full with his new job.
Costs
HKCA ground fees (HK$9,000), Affiliation fees (HK$3,500), Balls ($5,400), Shirts/Sun Hats, Lamma Cricket Ground (LCG), Bad Debts.
Club Membership
Additional players will be required for next season, as we will be missing Al McMillan and Sher Lama with Craig Francis less active. A new pro-player will be sourced. All members are welcome to help with the recruitment of quality new players. It is hoped that Illyas Gul will be our new “Pro” player and we would look to bolster the squad with three more players of suitable ability.
Membership Fees
League Men’s Club membership for next season will be HK$450 and includes the new LCC player’s shirt.
Social Club membership for next season will be HK$300 and includes the new LCC player’s shirt.
League Women’s Club membership for next season will be HK$300 and includes the LCC player’s shirt.
All LCC members will receive a membership card that entitles the cardholder to a 15% discount, anytime, at Devils Advocate — food and drinks.
There was a point raised about paying Club Membership & match fees at the beginning of the season that could bring considerable savings and will be discussed further at the next ECM between the elected Committee.
Match Fees
Men’s league match fee remains at HK$150.
Social match fees vary from $100–$120.
Women’s match fee is HK$80.
A discount is available for the unemployed, low-income earner & student at the discretion of the ECM or captain.
It is expected that everyone pay his or her match fee on the day. A reminder will be placed on the team sheet sent out to all players chosen for the up-coming match to bring enough money to pay for your game — including the 12th man.
If you are 12th man and play, you are expected to pay. As a benefit of turning up (on time) as 12th man you will automatically be in the squad for the next match only. Should you go as a spectator and play, you will not have to pay but you will not automatically be in the team the next match either.
Clothing & Equipment
New Shirts and Sun Hats are being designed and produced.
Imran will donate 2 Bats for next season (1 Men’s & 1 Women’s).
We will buy new bails, batting gloves, keeping inners and counters for next season. Any requests for new equipment are welcome.
The Kit
An awful lot of kit has gone missing and this situation is very poor. It is such a waste of your Club funds to replace nearly new kit so care must be taken in returning it to the designated kit area. To help the situation Jonno, as Manager, will delegate kit packing. For players with their own kit, do not put it in the kit bag as there is quite enough weight in the bags without adding to it.
Club Organisation
There were very few ECMs but the Club is running well. There is also good communication within the Executive Committee.
Web Site
The web site looks excellent and big thanks go to Kevin for producing such a good site with over 3,000 hits.
There are a massive amount of internal hits too with an unbelievable 43,421 hits during May, with 14,146 of these recorded in a single day — May 15th.
All appreciate his on-going work in keeping it up to date too. Thanks also extend to everyone else that contributed, in particular Ian, who helped design it and produced most of the historical material.
Net Practice
KCC, Pakistan Assoc. or IRC are being looked at. It is strongly desired that more players will participate at the nets and sustain a regular attendance.
Competitions
LCC will compete in all competitions available — Saturday League & Cup, HKU 6s, HKCC 6s, HKICF, and Breezer Cup but not in the Social League.
